The Lion & The Antelope

You see a lion attacking an antelope and think, “how cruel and evil.” You take out your riffle and fire a warning shot in an effort to save the weaker creature. You identify with the antelope. You might even, metaphorically, think that YOU are the antelope. But you are only allowed to pretend to be the antelope because in reality, you are the lion. No antelope attempts to save their kin once they’ve been captured. Rescue and protection can only happen from a position of strength. Compassion without power is just sentiment. Power without compassion is brutality. But compassion backed by power is the only thing that leads to a righteous and orderly world.
